Drive down the long tree-lined drive to The Farmhouse, situated in a Mediterranean-style large open courtyard setting with two other barns. The Farmhouse, parts of which date back to the late 1700s, sits within 30 acres of the owners’ land with its own small lake and island, a haven for some rare birds and wildlife. The holiday property is tastefully and comfortably furnished, offering two large inglenook fireplaces with wood-burning stoves, one in the large family kitchen and one in the more formal dining-room. There are two large reception rooms and the bedrooms offer comfortable beds and goose down pillows and duvets. All rooms are furnished with the owners’ antiques. The farm has its own sheep, alpacas, horses and free range chickens. Peacocks and guinea fowl roam freely around the various gardens. Pathways have been traditionally cut and kept open to provide pleasant walks around the farm and it is whilst on these walks that one can often see resident fallow deer. Woods Farm can accommodate up to six horses in the wonderful Dutch barn stables so that guests can go trekking on Exmoor and on the farm. The North Devon coastline, with its unspoilt beaches are only a 15-minute drive away with sandy beaches and surfing available, some of the most famous being Saunton and Croyde. The English Heritage coastline, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is further down the coast as are the famous fishing villages of Clovelly and Appledore. The Tarka Trail offers walking and cycling along the estuary with cycle hire available whilst RHS gardens, the Eden Project and many National Trust houses are all well within easy travelling distance.
