Beautifully situated in a secluded valley just a mile from the sea, this splendid 16th-century Devon long house, with its own large garden and stream, is surrounded by rolling hills, woodland and pony paddocks and boasts lovely countryside views. Attached to the owners' home on their working farm, it has been sensitively and imaginatively restored, retaining a great deal of character, with original beams, oak doors and many interesting features, including a stunning slate staircase and stained glass window. Comyn Farmhouse offers spacious and well-presented accommodation, and with Exmoor National Park only 6miles away, it is perfectly situated for exploring the magnificent moorland and coastline either on foot or horseback. This part of North Devon offers some spectacular coastal scenery, with a chain of dramatic cliffs and rocky headlands, interspersed by sheltered bays. The nearby seaside resort of Ilfracombe (1mile) is built up around its busy fishing harbour, where rows of old houses and cottages line the streets and regular boat trips run to Lundy Island in the Summer. The newer part of the town is mainly Victorian and here a good selection of shops, traditional inns and restaurants await the visitor. Both Woolacombe (5miles) and Croyde Bay (8miles) have long sandy beaches and from nearby Baggy Point there are wonderful panoramic views over the bay to Lundy. Along the Exmoor coast are the attractive towns of Lynmouth and Lynton, connected by a cliff railway, built in 1890. Other fascinating places to visit include Watermouth Castle, Arlington Court (NT) and Marwood Gardens. Golf 1mile. Pub 1mile.
