Situated on the high ground overlooking the Taw and Torridge Estuary, Redland House provides an excellent location for larger parties to enjoy a holiday in the stunning North Devon area or celebrate a special occasion. The detached house, which featured in the TV programme Fantasy Homes by the Sea , is set in the pretty village of Instow and offers well-proportioned accommodation with beautiful views across the surrounding countryside and estuary. Inside are three reception areas, a good size kitchen with breakfast area and a large dining-room with vaulted ceiling. The bedrooms are comfortable and well proportioned and the stunning top bedroom has a wonderful balcony where guests can sit and enjoy a morning coffee and watch the world go by.Pretty gardens surround the property and offer plenty of space for al fresco dining, summer barbecues and for the children to let off steam - along with many hidden seating areas to escape to for some quiet time. Instow is a pretty, unspoilt, seaside village with large stretches of sandy beaches and dunes, fishermen’s cottages, shops and a good selection of pubs and restaurants specialising in locally caught seafood whilst the local village store and delicatessen is superb. All this is within walking distance of Redland House. The area is a must for water sports, sailing enthusiasts and fishermen. Walkers and cyclists will enjoy the famous Tarka Trail which passes close by and follows the estuary towards Braunton. It is also pleasant to just relax on the beach, watching the tide ebb and flow and the fishing boats bob on the water. On the opposite side of the estuary is Appledore with its pretty quayside and winding streets; it is famous for its maritime history and its many arts and crafts shops. The cricket ground is close by and must have one of the best settings in the country to watch the leather hitting willow. The larger town of Bideford with its historic port and lively market, as well as the Lundy Island ferry and array of shops and other amenities, is just a short car journey away. The location of the house is ideal for exploring the surrounding countryside. The Atlantic Highway is easily accessible, providing a quick passage to Hartland and the breathtaking North Devon and North Cornish Coast. There are numerous NT properties in the area including Arlington, Hartland Abbey and Castle Drogo, as well as the RHS gardens at Rosemoor and Docton Mill. Hartland Quay and Lighthouse are well worth a visit, along with many other local beauty spots including Bucks Mills and Clovelly. At Torrington there is the Dartington Crystal factory and for family fun The Big Sheep and The Milky Way adventure parks are just a short drive and are a great day out for all ages. The property is also conveniently placed to visit some of the finest beaches in the country at Croyde, Saunton and Woolacombe, and the storm beach at Westward Ho!The wild beauty of Dartmoor, Exmoor and Bodmin Moors are all within easy driving distance as is the famous Eden Project.
