Orchard House is a stunning, 18th-century converted barn which has been beautifully furnished throughout and offers spacious, detached holiday accommodation on the breathtaking North Devon Coast. A 25-minute walk across the owner’s farmland leads to a little known, secluded, pebble and sandy beach - Portledge beach - which is a wonderful sun trap and well off the tourist map, making it usually very quiet even on the busiest summer day. The spectacular South West Coastal Path has a chain of magnificent cliffs and stretches along the Heritage Coast to Hartland Point. Retaining many original features - including exposed timber roof trusses, vaulted ceilings and natural stone – the property also benefits from modern design details. The four spacious double bedrooms are sumptuously furnished with designer fabrics, each one themed: French-style, chunky rustic Mexican-style, rich mahogany, and one with contemporary nickel bedstead. To the front of Orchard House is an enclosed garden and patio, with uninterrupted country views across the fields and valley. The long stone patio area extends the entire length of the barn, with huge patio table and chairs seating 12. Trout from the well-stocked large pond along the drive can even be caught fresh and baked in the open air on the barbecue! Guests are free to explore the surrounding 50 acres of woodland and pasture (with sheep and horses). The famous surfing beaches of Westward Ho! (4 miles) and Bude are an easy drive or hire a bike and explore the nearby Tarka Trail. Sailing, water-skiing, golf and riding are available locally. For family fun The Big Sheep and The Milky Way adventure parks and North Devon Bird of Prey Centre are close by. There are numerous NT properties in the area, as well as the RHS gardens at Rosemoor and Docton Mill. Hartland Abbey is well worth a visit and the charming village of Clovelly, just 6 miles away, is one of Britain’s showpieces, with whitewashed houses tumbling down to a little harbour._Spacious, modern open-plan living/dining-room with central wood-burning stove, and 50in plasma TV.
