The picturesque and historic village of Slapton with its famous nature reserve, 3 mile shingle beach and real ale pubs, just 3 miles. There are many places of interest to explore and varied activities to pursue within an easy drive, including Dartmoor, a great wilderness of extremes, barren in some areas, lush in others, famous for its rocky tors and wild ponies, NT houses and gardens, farm, wildlife and fun attractions. The historic picturesque market town of Totnes, 11 miles, with its cobbled streets offers a fascinating variety of shops and charming tea rooms. River excursions can be enjoyed on the River Dart, whose valley is also the route for regular and photogenic steam railway journeys from Totnes to Buckfastleigh. The ancient ports of both Salcombe, 10 miles, and Dartmouth, 11 miles, both offer boat trips and sea fishing. For walkers wishing to explore, both the Dartmoor National Park and the South Devon Coastal Paths are within easy touring distance. Horse riding 2 miles and trout fishing 5 miles. The 225 acre Dartmouth Golf and Country Club, 5 miles, features an 18-hole championship golf course together with a 9-hole course and an excellent health and leisure club.
