The Old Rectory is a 200-year-old property set within 5 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens and paddocks. Rectory Cottage adjoins the owner’s home; it enjoys fantastic views across the village of Stoodleigh and the glorious rolling Devonshire countryside beyond. This spacious holiday property has been refurbished and equipped to a very good standard. Guests will receive a Devon cream tea on arrival and are welcome to use all the garden and grounds for playing, relaxing or maybe enjoying a BBQ under the large mature trees. Within the grounds of Rectory Cottage there are lambs in the field, ducks and ducklings waddling around the garden, as well as two piglets. There are lots of children’s toys if needed. Stoodleigh is a traditional rural village on the edge of Exmoor National Park which makes a great base for a family holiday. Situated only 7 miles from Dulverton where you will find the famous statue of Lorna Doone, lovely shops and tea rooms serving delicious Devon cream teas. The wildlife is superb; deer, badgers and many others can be spotted including the wild Exmoor ponies. Stoodleigh is centrally based between the North and South Devon coastline. The north coast, renowned for its magnificent sandy beaches (Croyde Bay, Saunton Sands, Woolacombe and Putsborough), is more rugged and natural, and the south coast (Sidmouth, Beer, Exmouth, Budleigh) is more developed with a selection of tourist attractions. Knightshayes Court (NT) is only 10 minutes away. Nearby Crealy is a wonderful children’s adventure park whilst Diggerland is a unique adventure park where children and adults can drive real diggers. Also available are Exmoor Zoo, the Donkey Sanctuary and the Grand Western Canal which is ideal for a leisurely walk or alternatively you could take a ride in a horse-drawn barge.
