From the Airport: - By taxi The trip takes 15-20 minutes from the airport depending on traffic. Fares range from EUR 15 to EUR 20. Although most of the Madrid's taxi drivers are very professional and completely honest, the Airport seems to attract a small number of scam drivers. We have heard of cases where tourists were asked to pay 2 or 3 times the usual fare. Always take an official taxi and simply pay and ask for an official receipt (un recibo). We have also heard of taxi drivers trying to distract travellers from their destination and recommending high cost hotels where they get a commission. This is not usual but be aware. By Airport Bus: The bus runs from the international terminal at the airport to the ?Plaza de La Independencia? in the city centre. The fare is about EUR 2.50. It runs from 6:00 - 1:00 From the Plaza de La Independencia you have two options: -Take the metro at ?Plaza de La Independencia?, the station is called Colón. Change at the station 'Bilbao' and go to Gran Vía. -Take a taxi. The fare from Colón to the Hostal is around EUR 3 - 5 The price of a ticket for either the bus or the subway is EUR 1 If you are staying some days you can buy a 10 trip ticket costing EUR 6.40 (it's more economic). By Metro At the airport you have to take Line 8 to the end of the line at 'Mar de Cristal' station. Switch for Line 4 toward "Argüelles" station. At "Bilbao" station take Line 1 toward "Congosto" and get off the train at ?Gran Vía? station. Is just a 5 minute walk from us. By Train: -All railway stations in Madrid are also Metro stations. To reach Hostal San Lorenzo take the Metro to ?Gran Via? station. From there it is a 5 minute walk. If you are driving a car, you can park it just in front of us, in a public car park at ?Plaza Vázquez de Mella?. |
