By Plane;
The closest airport is Plovdiv Airport, which is situated approximately 10 km from the city (15 minutes' drive). The airport specialises in international charter passenger flights only throughout the year. No regular flights.
The second closest airport is Sofia Airport, 150 km away from Plovdiv (1.5 hours' drive). There are many daily, regular flights from the European capitals and cities.
The hotel can arrange your transfer from both airports on request (at an additional cost).
By car
- When you come to Plovdiv, you have to find the Tsar Boris III Boulevard in the direction coming from the International Fair.
- After crossing the Maritsa River, go straight after the first traffic lights. - When you reach at a visual distance the tunnel of the old town take the street going right (after the bus stop) and again the first left.
- It will lead you to Saborna Street where you will have to make a sharp left turn. Following the cobbled street after 300 metres, you will find the Plovdiv Guesthouse hostel.
By Train:
From the Central railway station:
As you walk out you will see a bus station in front of you, you can catch buses 7, 20, 26 or minibus shuttle 2.
You need to get off at the 6th bus station, the one straight after the tunnel (travel time: 10 minutes).
Then you walk back for approximately 30m (passing by the subway on your left) and take the stone stairs to the left, leading uphill to the Old Plovdiv.
Contibue for another 30m walking on a cobbled narrow street, take the second street on the left.
Carry on for abother 60m until you come to a crossroad with the Balabanov house on your left. Here, you continue straight ahead and uphill.
Approximately 60m further up you reach another crossroads with a high church wall and a bell tower in front of you. Here, you turn right and continue for 35m until you see the Plovdiv Guesthouse on your left.
By Bus:
There are 3 bus stations in Plovdiv:
Bus station South, serving passengers coming from South Bulgaria and Sofia. Just across the bus station street there is a public transportation bus station. From there, you can catch buses 7, 20, 26 or minibus shuttle 2. You need to get off at the 5th bus station, the one straight after the tunnel - travel time: 10 minutes. Then, just follow the same directions as in the "By Train" description above.
Bus station North, serving passengers coming from North Bulgaria. In front of the bus station you'll see a public transportation bus station. You can catch bus 21 or trolley bus 3. You need to get off at the 6th bus station, the one just before the tunnel - travel time: 10 minutes. Then, you take the subway which you'll find on your left after you get off the bus. After about 50m walking underground, take the right stairs and get up on the ground surface. Immediately after you take the stone stairs to the left, leading uphill to the Old Plovdiv. Then, you follow the same directions as in the "By Train" description above.
Bus station Rhodope, serving passengers coming from the nearby Rhodope Mountains. You need to get down the subway beside the bus station. In approximately 300m walking underground, take the left exit and arrive at the bus station in front of the Central railway station. There, you just follow the same directions as in the "By Train" description above - travel time on the bus: 10 minutes.
By taxi:
Always check the taxi rates and the approximate amount for the drive before getting in the taxi.
